Australia’s premier sports micronutrition brand PILLAR Performance has completed certification of its market-leading range with the globally recognised banned substance testing programme Informed Sport.
Informed Sport certification shows that products are made to the highest quality standards and every batch is tested for substances banned in sport.
Representing the gold standard for batch testing in professional sport, the presence of Informed Sport certification on product packaging demonstrates that every batch of a product has been tested for more than 250 substances prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Informed Sport certification ensures all products are made in an environment with quality systems appropriate for the stringent demands of sports nutrition manufacturing.
While PILLAR had previously earned certification on a portion of its range, the brand made the ambitious move to certify all products in 2022 – requiring Informed Sport’s first-in-class testing to make this a reality.
PILLAR Founder and CEO, Damien Fitzpatrick said it was a very proud day for the brand to have become entirely certified.
“When we began the journey with PILLAR, from day one this [complete certification] was always the goal,” said Fitzpatrick.
“As a former athlete, I knew the complete lack of certified products in the micronutrition category and that’s something we set out to change.
“Micronutrition is a performance tool and has been overlooked for such a long time, from ingredient selection to formulation strength, to batch testing – we’ve not only been able to hero micros when it comes to athletic outcomes, but also safely get it in the hands of tested athletes which is hugely rewarding.”
“Certification of products on to Informed Sport is a clear indication of PILLAR’s commitment to quality assurance and testing for substances banned in sport,” said Terence O’Rorke, LGC Business Development Manager APAC.
“Informed Sport provides the highest levels of protection for athletes using supplements, as well as the general consumer. Every batch must be tested before the products can be sold. We applaud PILLAR’s decision to undergo such robust testing and assessment on a programme that is recognised by athletes and sport across the world.”
The latest announcement from PILLAR – after just over 12 months in operation – sees the brand become Australia’s first completely certified sports micronutrition brand.
“It was a difficult undertaking to get to this point and we’re so glad to be working alongside Informed Sport,” added Fitzpatrick.
“Certification for micronutrition is rare due to the complexities of formulations and the batch testing process, but we’re really proud to have made this possible for the many athletes and teams who now choose PILLAR.
“We’ll continue to work with the team at Informed Sport to ensure new products also meet their strict criteria and can be included in our certified range.”
PILLAR currently partners with Australian sporting teams across rugby union, AFL, NRL, Super Netball as well as the IRONMAN® group.
Given PILLAR’s existing commitment to clean sport and batch testing, they also supply to more than 40 professional teams nationally, quickly becoming the micronutrition brand of choice when it comes to high performance.
PILLAR also works with a team of elite endurance athletes including Jan Frodeno (3 x IRONMAN World Champion), Zac Stubblety-Cook (Olympic Gold Medallist), Ellie Salthouse and Sam Appleton.
